A “zero waste” lunch break is the challenge undertaken by the association The new Locals, who offer an organic, vegetarian, locally-sourced and above all “zero waste” lunch every Thursday in the UCLy entrance hall. Romain Pavy et Téjas Vishwanath, who are very concerned with ecological challenges, founded The New Locals in 2017, and offer several projects linked to sustainable development within the School.
The start of the 2018-19 university year was important for them as it marked the opening of their organic restaurant, in partnership with a local caterer. Last year, the association focused on energy-related challenges: among other things they offered to install solar panels on the roof of one of the UCLy buildings. The New Locals also organizes conferences to raise awareness of environmental issues.
